Kelly Clarkson, Get Your Freak On

Recently I made a mix for one of my friends who had just parted ways with her man. It was easy to create, although picking between Kelly Clarkson must haves was a bit of a challenge. Of course there is the ever powerful “Since U’ve Been Gone,” except not a lot of time had passed. Then there was my favorite “Low,” as well as “Walk Away,” and “Because of You.” Once I heard “Never Again” there was no question it had to be on there.

Remember the first time you heard Jagged Little Pill by Alanis? Ouch. Then she went and got all happy on us. Kelly Clarkson, on the other hand, proves you can be a positive person, but that doesn’t mean rolling over when you get burned.

    You’re joking right? You cannot be comparing Kelly Clarkson to Alanis Morissette. Or anything that Kelly Clarkson has done to Jagged Little Pill?

    Hey Kelly is a talented individual sure, but we are talking Jagged Little Pill here. The comparison lacks credibility. In my opinion, endorsements like this only set up Kelly for ridicule and damage her fan base. It is one of the problems with the music industry in my opinion. Kelly is what she is and that is good enough for her fans. Don’t make her out to be something she isn’t.

    Have you ever seen Kelly live in concert? I, like you, was definitely skeptical before that. Then I saw her live and the girl has pipes. I love GYFO and artists love it too. Christina Aguilera & Beyonce have both participated. I don’t think Kelly would find being in a category with either of those ladies a detriment.
    It’s pretty awesome to connect with artists you love. Maybe that doesn’t personally appeal to you but remember that Alanis was on a kids TV show in Canada singing pop music during her teen years…similiar to Kelly…..
    Alanis went through dark times and put out Jagged Little Pill and Kelly has been facing a lot of press about the same thing. She’s even said that her new album My December was modelled after JLP’s story arc. I think you will find it pretty interesting.

    And, even Alanis is lightening up these days. Have you seen her version of ‘My Humps?’
