New Release of Yahoo! Music Jukebox 2.0.2 + Google Desktop

Hey there everyone,
We just released an update to Yahoo! Music Jukebox 2.0.2 that we believe corrects an issue that some of you were seeing involving extremely slow performance with more than 1500 tracks in My Library.
This version (2.0.2.049) is available now from
http://music.yahoo.com/jukebox *
I really hope this clears up the problems that you saw with 2.0.2. The only change with this version is the fix for large libraries.
Also: We’ve noticed that if you install the latest version of Google Desktop before installing Yahoo! Music Jukebox, then YMJ may appear to install correctly, but might not function correctly. The main symptom is that the left pane with “Y! Unlimited”, “My Library”, etc. will only have one or two items in it. There may be other errors when you try to use the product, but that’s the most noticeable symptom.
This appears to happen any 2.0 version of YMJ including the new 2.0.2.
The current way to avoid this is to uninstall Google Desktop (turning it off is *not* sufficient) and then install YMJ. After YMJ is installed, you can safely re-install Google Desktop if you wish. We’re close to a fix for that as well that you’ll see in the next release.
Thanks for your patience,
Mick O

Wow, this update helped a lot. My YMJ has been close to unusable since last updating it and now I can look through my music library as quick or maybe even quicker then ever.

How the hell are they going to support WM DRM on Mac OS X?
Is that even a real question?
People talk about Windows, but they have many online stores and iTunes, whereas Mac looks you into iTunes.
YMJ has a lot of faults, but don’t blame that on them.

Hey Mick,
Is there anything you can do to help bring back the Yahoo Radish? I notice that Robert of the Radish seems to be posting exclusively to Rhapsody now. His yahoo radish site (which hasn’t had a new post since last Christmas) was one of the main reasons I subscribed to YMU. I hate to see such a nice playlisting site devoted to Rhapsody. Please do what must be done to get some of that devotion towards Yahoo. Thanks!

I have noticed recently that the sound quality is lower for many songs in yahoo music jukebox. This week the new album from Andrew Bird came out and I listened to it right away. The first impression was that it sounded like low quality internet audio! What happened to my high quality stream of music?
I thought the bitrate was 128Kbps but it sounds lower.
@resource: There is Windows media player for Mac OS X… I wonder what else is missing for there to be a Mac version. I also wish the program was cross platform.

Where is the 64 Bit version? At least a 32 bit version that runs on Windows 64. I really don’t care about the Sonic burning feature if that is what is holding you back.

Something changed in the new version that is not an improvement. Every time I click on a track (in the play list or the track list in the main window) I hear the “default beep” sound. If I have no sound for that Windows event I hear my internal speaker anyway.
This is really annoying to get audio feedback from clicking on song names or even by pressing up and down on my keyboard! What kind of upgrade is this? Is there a way to fix this feature?

Hi, just found this blog.
I’ve been a user of YME since it first released and I’ve been requesting this bug fix/feature since day 1:
The columns of an artist/album/song page are customizable. I can resize, add/remove, etc. HOWEVER, your changes are NOT saved! View another page and everything is back to the default. Why make them customizable and then not remember the changes? That makes absolutely no sense to me. I get excited every time I see the new version alert box. After I install, column memory is the very first thing I check, and I’m disappointed every time… for about a year and a half now.
In windows explorer, I make changes, leave, go back, and changes are remembered. It’s a very basic UI expectation.
