The sad news is this. they have no plans to make yahoo music compatible with x64. I hounded the support on this recently and got this back in reply:

Thank you for writing Yahoo! Music about 64 bit support. We’re happy to
help you with this question.

We have no plans for adding 64 bit support.

How about you throw a bone to all of us who paid for your silly unlimited service and now can’t use it on any computer with XP x64.

Anyone? You’ve known about this issue for months. You keep releasing new versions, but never address this.

I just loaded 2.0.2.049.

Every time i try to play a tune it crashes!

Its also talking even longer to start/load/login. I love the service but the client seems bigger and do i dare say bloated…

How can I download the previous version?

That or can i extend my yahoo subscription until you deliver a version that can work without crashing.

It’s clear that these point releases are not fixing much because people are still quite unhappy.

There is no phone support and when people see Rhapsody they get a little jealous that YMJ doesn’t have those features.

The playlist search is horrible and I don’t want to open IE to read an artist bio.

I could go on and on…

FYI - the playlist has become a problem with this new release, very slow and locks up.

Yahoo support is aware of the problem. From my open ticket:

Emayoh…. do you guys even test the network music functionality? If I turn on that plugin, and I view my boss’ music from his rhapsody, after about 30 seconds (And it says fetching network music…), I get a fatal exception.

I was really hoping that would be fixed in this version. My boss makes fun of me for having YMU instead of Rhapsody because of all the crashes. I’m really disappointed. He tells me “Just think of all the money you’re saving.” in a facetious way.

I have to admit, his Rhapsody does seem a lot better. His network music works, and he has a lot more music available to him, it would seem. I’m kind of sad that I paid for 2 years in advance… but at least it’s a little cheaper.

Thanks guys. A couple of problems: In mini-mode, transparency settings and location are not retained when you switch to full mode then back to mini mode. Also, the memory usage continually increases. It’s been running all day and went from about 20MB to over 40MB.
