What about actually downloading the wma files and playing them from the harddrive? What about plugging and and synchronizing to a portable music player? I have a Creative Zen Vision:M, and if I could switch to Linux, and still be able to use Yahoo Music Engine and transfer files to my portable player, I would be elated.

Also, how is performance? I have a medium-grade laptop, and don't want it to die trying to do this.

[...] I did. I have decided to subscribe to Yahoo! Music Unlimited. The service is awesome. I can choose any artist, any album, any song and stream them, create playlists, share them… What motivated me was this post by Neal broten on the official Yahoo! Music blog. His article describes how I can use the Music Engine on Ubuntu…which is pretty good since…I use it!! Actually the entry describes how we can use any Windows software with VMware. I guess I might try to set it up on my Linux. Also I have lost all my music on my laptop…Really I don’t have time to get emule and download everything again…. This subscription let me stream what I want and it just works perfectly so far. Plus I got Launchcast Plus, that is, my personalized radio station without commercials. Now if only I had known this before setting up my dual boot… Posted by Guillaumeb Filed in Yahoo!, Linux [...]
